Our Mission:
We heal hearts, provide hope, and enhance lives with a holistic approach to mental health for all ages, whole families, and the military community. We envision a healthy and compassionate community where every individual achieves mental, physical, spiritual, and social wellbeing.

The Importance of Mental Health:
At Samaritan Center we believe that mental health is vital to wellbeing and achieving one’s fullest potential.Good mental health allows us to feel good about ourselves, participate in life and contribute to our communities. People who have good mental health are able to cope with stress, work productively, foster strong relationships, and contribute to our community.

How We Help:
Samaritan Center was founded in 1974 on the belief that there is a close relationship between mind, body, spirit, and community. They provide professional counseling, integrative medicine, peer support, wellness education, and skills-building workshops for children and adults that are accessible and affordable in Central Texas. Many clients are uninsured or under-insured low-income families, and veterans and military families struggling with service-related trauma. A team of licensed mental health professionals, including bilingual staff, have experience helping a variety of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief with diverse populations. Services are culturally competent and trauma-informed. They are accredited by the Solihten Institute which requires that we meet evidence-based standards of mental health care. Healing means something different to everyone, but overall, individuals experience an improved quality of life and a reduction in symptoms to carry out their daily lives — going to work, participating in school, and managing relationships.

A Story of One Family’s Success:
Samuel was a 7-year old boy living with his mother. He didn’t know why, but anytime he was separated from her to go to school or at bedtime, he had overwhelming feelings of anxiety and abandonment. His aggression took over. He erupted into major meltdowns at what his mother believed were the littlest things. Samuel felt like a constant disappointment to his mother and the low point was when he screamed at her, “I wish I was never born!” It was at this moment that they sought help from Samaritan Center. Little by little in therapy, Samuel discovered ways to relax when his big feelings started to bubble up. His mother worked on deepening a connection with him. Now, Samuel feels more confident when he’s away from his mother knowing she is there is support him.
